Over the heads of irises....

.....lies one of the most beautiful Japanese gardens, 850years old, an outstanding example of Heian era (794-1192)gardening technique and style. For its academic importance and exceptional landscape, Motsuji's garden has been dually designated a Special Historic Site and Special Place of Scenic Beauty. 30,000 irises of some 300 species can be seen in full bloom at the end of June and beginning of July.
My husband took this shot standing in front of the Kaizando Hall, looking towards the Oizumi ga Ike (pond) over the heads of the blooming irises.
