Moonlit Cherry Blossoms - a painting

Posted by Japanalia (Yokohama, Japan) on 21 March 2008 in Art & Design and Portfolio.

......by my favourite Japanese painter - a nihonga painter - Kaii HIGASHIYAMA. He lived with the 20th century events, as he was born in 1908 and died in 1999 at the age of 90. He is most famous in Japan because of his art inspired from nature that appeals to people's souls.
For me...it was love at first sight of his paintings, without trying to explain to myself "why".
His art brings peace, serenity and draws the viewer inside the beautiful landscapes.Had he lived, he would have been 100 years old this year.
