It cracked openPosted by Japanalia (Yokohama, Japan) on 7 November 2007 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. This is an edible chestnut in one of the many such orchards that we have around here. Chestnut as fruit is part of the Japanese traditional cuisine. I find them more attractive in the trees or when fallen and showing their shining brown coat.
