I'm afraid of them and I don't like them, but.....this one was so quiet, as if inviting me to get its profile. It was an August day, this year, with high temoerature and humidity. I was in a dahlia garden in Machida, a town within the Tokyo municipality. And the cicadas were having their daily performance in the surrounding trees....like a lot of broken doorbells!

Excellent photo. I was in Hiroshima this past summer and these things were very noisy. Ther "song" is different from what I remember of those here in the U.S.
